Chancellor's School has confirmed that the resurfacing of Pine Grove, Brookmans Park could last until Thursday 20 December, although the school says the work is not expected to take that long.

The road will now be closed to traffic for five hours a day not the six originally thought. Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) had announced Pine Grove would be closed between 09.30 and 15.30, but Chancellor's School has spoken to the council and it's now been agreed that the road will reopen at 14.30 to allow for school traffic.

There had been some confusion regarding how long the resurfacing of the road would take.

A sign at the south end of Pine Grove indicates a four-day closure. A letter from Hertfordshire County Council to residents said it would take five days. The website www.roadworks.org says the work will take five days. But an email from Chancellor's School to parents, guardians, and students says it will take six days.

Hertfordshire County Council's letter to local residents said the work would take five days, but advised people check with the yellow signboards for the "exact" dates/times.

However the note sent out by Chancellor's School has the latest information. The headteacher, David Croston, has confirmed the times and dates.

While the resurfacing is taking place cars will not be allowed to use Pine Grove. Drivers are asked to move their cars before work starts.

The resurfacing will be carried out between along the entire length of Pine Grove from the junctions with George's Wood Road at the south end to the junction with The Drive at the north end.

The resurfacing coincides with work on Bell Lane, Bell Bar, with diversions in place along Bulls Lane and the Great North Road.
