The group responsible for the Hope and Anchor in Welham Green says it’s now “actively marketing the pub for letting”, after negotiating possession of the premises.

The historical North Mymms pub has been closed since November, and there were fears in the village that the Grade II listed North Mymms building might have served its last pint.

Letters have been received by residents living close to Chancellor’s School inviting them to comment on the recently resubmitted plans for the proposed development of the Brookmans Park school. The status of the planning application is ‘under consultation’.

They've been at it again. Bradmore Lane, between Brookmans Park and Welham Green, is again closed following yet another fly-tipping dump. This time the rubbish has been left in the middle of the road.

Local police are appealing for the public’s help in tracing a “wanted man”. According to Welwyn Hatfield South police, Matthew Turner, aged 38 from Welham Green, is “wanted on recall to prison”.

Hertfordshire police say there’s been an increase in reports of attempted vehicle crimes as more and more people install doorbell cameras and CCTV at their homes.

In most cases the would-be thieves move on once they find a vehicles is locked, but police say the footage gathered by residents highlights the scale of the problem.

Hertfordshire County Council
has closed a rotten and dangerous wooden footbridge on a local public footpath which means that walkers are unable to complete a number of popular routes. The bridge is at the east end of Essendon footpath 2 at its junction with bridleway 26.

Traffic is being diverted around Brookmans Avenue in Brookmans Park until Tuesday 15 January while "essential gas repair works" are carried out. The road will remain closed to through traffic and open for access only. Delays likely at peak times.

Tax scam warning issued by local police

Hertfordshire constabulary is warning locals of a tax fraud scam where people are threatened with legal action unless they make a payment immediately.

The police advice is to always question unsolicited requests for your personal or financial information and contact the business directly using trusted methods such as a known email address or phone number.

Jonas Way between Moffats Lane and Gobions Open Space in Brookmans Park is again pitted with potholes weeks after volunteers tried to patch up the problem.

Vehicles and weather appear to have taken their toll on the temporary solution introduced by Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust (HMWT) and North Mymms Parish Council (NMPC).

A dead adult horse has been left lying on its side in a gateway towards the Brookmans Park end of Bradmore Lane. This site has notified local police, the council, and the RSPCA via Twitter. Warning: there are graphic images of the horse in this article.

Despite repeated visits by police, and signs being erected by Hertfordshire County Council, a popular local footpath continues to be soiled with human faeces. The health hazard has remained unresolved for more than four months.
