4.5 mile detour to be put in place
Hawkshead Lane will be closed west of the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) down to Warrengate Road for two days from Thursday 1 August. It’s to allow Affinity Water to lay new pipework. Diversions will be put in place.

According to Roadworks.org, “emergency access will be maintained at all times”.
The recommended diversion around the 800ft of lane that will be closed (shown in pink on the map above) will take traffic through Brookmans Park and Welham Green before heading south down Swanland Road - a distance of 4.5 miles. A shorter route (3.1 miles) via Bradmore Lane and Warrengate Road has not being recommended.

Road closure signs have been place west of and after the RVC (Grid Reference: TL 23657 03134), and on Warrengate Road just before the bridge over Mimmshall Brook (Grid Reference: TL 23033 03167).
