A Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust (HMWT) ‘pop-up’ information tent, similar to the one pictured above, is being set up at Gobions Open Space on Thursday close to the free car park and play area.

Staff and volunteers will be on hand for four hours to meet anyone interested in the work the trust carries out at nearby Gobions Wood reserve and at all the other trust-managed sites.

It's an opportunity for local residents to find out more about the trust, make suggestions about how HMWT manages the Gobions Wood reserve, sign up and join more than 22,000 members who all share a passion for wildlife, make a donation, or become a volunteer.

Become a member of HMWT

By joining HMWT as a member you will be helping to maintain and restore important local wild places now and for future generations. The Trust receives no direct funds from the government, and its work is largely financed by people who want to support local wildlife and keep the reserves, such as Gobions Wood, free to access.

Make a donation

As a charity HMWT relies on the generosity of local people who give what they can to help protect local wildlife. If you are a UK taxpayer, the value of any financial gift can be increased by 25% under the Gift Aid scheme at no extra cost to the person giving the money. This means that a donation of £5.00 could be worth an extra £1.25 to HMWT.

Become a volunteer

Volunteering is another way to support HMWT. You could help the trust by working on a nature reserve, become involved running one of the trust’s events, or work in the office. According to HMWT, volunteers are the lifeblood of the trust’s work, and there are currently lots of volunteering opportunities.

Notices publicising Thursday’s visitor’s centre in Gobions Open Space have been posted around the area.
