A small terrier dog wearing a pink collar which was found outside St Mary’s school on Dellsome Lane, Welham Green on Monday has been reunited with its owner.

Posting on the local NextDoor website, the person who found the terrier said the dog’s coat was in a bad way and she was soaking wet, but, after a “good bath she looked pretty healthy” and was “alert and lively”.

The terrier was taken to the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) on Hawkshead Lane where a vet checked her teeth and said she was a young dog.

Staff at the RVC weren't able to scan the dog because she was “too distressed and nipping a little”. Apparently she wasn’t trying to bite but was “frightened, timid, but friendly”.

On Tuesday morning the person who found the dog posted on the NextDoor site that “the dog has been collected and now with it owner”.
