Management at the Hope & Anchor in Station Road, Welham Green says they have had to cancelled the planned firework party on Friday 8 November after concerns were raised by a neighbour.

The local authority intervened after carrying out a council-led risk assessment of the event.

New licensee and pub director, Gary Bush, says he’s disappointed that the pub has been forced to cancel the event.
“Sadly what was an attempt by the Hope & Anchor to try to be nice and say hello to the village with this free event with a free food offering and a few fireworks in what is a decent sized plot in Station Road has been made impossible to go ahead with.”
Instead the pub is working on a number of alternative events - that won’t involve fireworks - and will publicise them on social media and with boards outside the premises.

The Grade II listed pub was recently taken over by a new management team.
