Some reminders, advice and tips for those planning a post-Christmas clean-up, including the opening times for the local recycling centres, a list of what to put in which bins, and a repeat of the revised refuse collection dates for the next two weeks.

According to Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council the following Christmas waste can be put in your wheelie bins.
  • Christmas cards (heavily decorated with glitter, foil, etc) go in the black rubbish bin.
  • Christmas cards (plain) go in the blue lidded bin (inner box)
  • Christmas trees (real and cut up) go in the brown compost bin along with food waste (if you have paid to have the brown bin emptied)
If you have not subscribed to the council’s garden waste collection service you can do so from Monday 3 February.

For those who have lost the card showing the revised collections for the festive holiday period, here is a reminder.

The local recycling centres can be used to recycle excess paper and card, glass, cans and plastic bottles along with other items for landfill.

The two local centres are the Cole Green household waste recycling centre and the Potters Bar household waste recycling centre. Check the links for opening times and site rules.
