An action group has been set up to oppose the potential allocation of a site for 130 houses in Bell Bar.

The site, known as BrP1, is contained in proposed changes to the Welwyn Hatfield Local Plan which was subject to a public consultation earlier this year.

The Bell Lane Action Group (BLAG) says the proposal for developing the site is “overwhelming” and the group intends to oppose the plan “all the way”.

A spokeswoman for BLAG said the site, which is currently a field, is part of Bell Bar Farm and is flanked by Bell Lane to the south and the west, and the A1000, Great North Road, to the east.

BLAG says there are currently 39 houses along the lane and the residents the group has spoken to are “appalled by what is planned”.

The group has submitted its objections to Welwyn Hatfield Council as part of the Local Plan consultation process. BLAG’s submission is embedded below.

The group is setting up a Facebook page in order to publicise its activities as it continues to oppose the development.
